"Momotaro," a classic Japanese folktale beloved for generations, is now available as a DIY mini-picture book coloring kit that you can color and assemble yourself!

Enjoy this thrilling story—spanning six pages of illustrations and text—about Momotaro, who was born from a giant peach that floated down a river. Accompanied by a dog, a monkey, and a pheasant, he sets off for Oni-ga-shima to defeat the ogres and returns home with a treasure.

Set Contents and Features

We offer the following four variations so you can choose the one that best suits your child’s age and learning needs.

Hiragana Coloring Book Version: Ideal for children just beginning to learn the alphabet. This black-and-white coloring book features large, easy-to-read hiragana characters.
Hiragana Color Edition: A richly colored completed sample. It can be used as is as a read-aloud picture book or kamishibai.
Romaji Coloring Book Version: A coloring book with Romaji characters, designed for elementary school Romaji lessons, as well as for children living overseas and Japanese language learners.
Romaji Color Version: A full-color picture book featuring a story written in Romaji. It’s also well-suited for introducing traditional Japanese folktales to English-speaking audiences.

How to Assemble Your Handmade Picture Book

Print them out on a home, preschool, or school printer, and use scissors and glue to easily create your very own original picture book.

Print the pages on your preferred paper (A4 size recommended).
If using the coloring version, color the pages freely with colored pencils, crayons, markers, etc.
Apply glue to the “glue strip” on the left side of each page, then glue the pages together in order from page 1 to page 6.
Write your name in the “Name” field on the cover, and your one-of-a-kind Momotaro picture book is complete!
