While coloring, why not practice these Japanese words?
- Koinobori (こいのぼり): Carp Streamer
- Kodomo (こども): Child / Children
- Sakana (さかな): Fish
- Sora (そら): Sky
Cultural Fact
The carp is chosen because it is a strong fish that can swim upstream. It symbolizes strength, courage, and the determination to overcome obstacles. In a traditional Koinobori set, the black carp represents the father, the red carp the mother, and the smaller ones represent the children!
