Learn Japanese: How to say “Singapore”
In Japan, we use a writing system called Katakana to write foreign country names.
“Singapore” is written as シンガポール (Shin-ga-pō-ru).
- シ (Shi)

- ガ (ga)
- ポ (pō) – The “ー” indicates a long vowel sound.

Japanese “Nuri-e” Culture
In Japan, coloring pages are called Nuri-e (塗り絵).
It has been a beloved pastime for Japanese children for generations, often used as a tool for “Chiiku” (intellectual training) to develop fine motor skills and color recognition.
By combining world flags with Nuri-e, children can develop a “global sense” from an early age.
