In the Setsubun tradition, participants are divided into two roles. Which one will you be?
- Oni (Demon): Wears a scary mask (like Akamaru or Aomaru) and runs away.
- Maku-Hito (Thrower): Wears a friendly mask (like this Spany!) or no mask, and throws beans to chase the bad spirits away.
Key Phrase: “Fuku wa Uchi!”
While wearing this mask and throwing beans, shout the phrase:
“Oni wa soto! Fuku wa uchi!”
(Demons out! Luck in!)
